5th August 2011 – A giant bottle landed on Seapark Beach, Holywood today with a message from Captain Morgan encouraging people to enter The Captain’s Island challenge, a buccaneering contest where a legendary Caribbean adventure and a £13,000 share of his bounty is at stake for a team of friends from the Emerald Isle.
Captain Morgan, along with The Captain’s Island official reporter actress Mena Suvari, has left a video message on his Facebook page laying out the challenges that could lead to a crew from Northern Ireland going to The Captain’s Island (from 9th – 14th October) in the Caribbean to battle it out against 13 other countries for a share of £13,000.
However, not everyone can get to The Captain’s Island and challenge for the bounty available. Captain Morgan is looking for potential crew members from across Ireland, North and South who can display the sort of traits befitting of a Captain – leadership, camaraderie, bravado (without recklessness), clever thinking and determination – to earn a place on his Island. Different challenges will be posted through Captain Morgan’s Facebook page – www.facebook.com/CaptainMorganIreland - and on completion of each challenge the potential crew members will earn a ‘key’. ‘Keys’ are also available through a variety of other ways including on promotional packs in supermarkets and off-licenses, in bars*, at events and other secret locations but to be in consideration for a place on The Captain’s Island, crew members will need to have collected five keys in total.
And if the prospect of an adventure on The Captain’s Island wasn’t already tantalising enough, actress Mena Suvari will also be on hand as Captain Morgan’s official reporter, interviewing crew members and commentating on their progress as they compete in a series of physical and mental challenges for the Captain’s bounty.
Captain Morgan commented: “The chance to have a three day legendary experience on my Caribbean Island and a share of a £13,000 bounty - why wouldn’t you want to be part of that adventure? Sign-up for The Captain’s Island and if you’re lucky enough it could all be yours. Oh, and did I mention that you’ll get to hang out with me, the Morganettes and get interviewed by Island reporter Mena Suvari too? What are you still reading this for – enter now!”
Mena Suvari added: “But you’re going to have to impress Captain Morgan to stand a chance here. If you can’t show leadership, camaraderie, determination, bravado and clever thinking then you can kiss goodbye to an Island adventure and a share of his bounty. He doesn’t just give this away – you have to earn it.”
The contest is open now to everyone in the island of Ireland above legal purchase age and challenges conducted via Facebook require a fun-loving Buccaneer who has a passion for adventure, creativity and a winning spirit. The closing date for crews to sign up and collect five keys is 18th September 2011. Please see www.facebook.com/CaptainMorganIreland for full Terms and Conditions for The Captain’s Island.
The Captain’s Island contest is only open to 18 years olds and older
